AIW
Alternative Interventions for Women (AIW) is an award-winning and nationally recognized treatment program for women involved in the criminal justice system. By focusing on women most at risk for recidivism, the program works to address all the functional needs for coping with addiction, mental illness, education and activities of daily living. Intensive, daily workgroups focus on essential skills building and learning accountability.
The admission process consists of a referral by the Courts or Probation Department, and an in-depth clinical assessment performed by Court Clinic assessment specialists and/or forensic clinical psychologists. The examiner will make a final report to the Probation Officer, including treatment recommendations. If the woman is found to meet the admission criteria of co-occurring disorder, she is then referred to the AIW program. Psychological testing and educational (I.Q.) testing can be provided if clinically appropriate or requested
